|About Finsbury Park Finsbury Park underwent a £5million Heritage Lottery Funded restoration and improvement programme in 2005. In recognition of the transformation, the Park was awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award in 2007 and has retained it ever since. Finsbury Park provides a rich tapestry of landscapes and a variety of facilities now catering for twenty-first century needs. It is the largest park managed by the council and offers a peaceful green retreat from its urban built-up surroundings.||Finsbury Park||Celebrating 150 years 2019 marks the 150th anniversary of the opening of Finsbury Park. |Highbury Fields parkrun is a FREE weekly 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 9:00am in It's run in Highbury Fields, Islington, London. See Course page for more details.. It is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy this beautiful park and get physically active into the bargain. We want to encourage people to jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!||Highbury Fields Parkrun||Taking part is easy – just register before your first ever parkrun. The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once! Then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there! Every week we grab a post parkrun coffee at The White Swan at Highbury Corner - please come and join us. Maybe swap stories about your run that day, chat to other runners over a cup of tea or coffee and just be an important part of this new running community. So whether you are a complete novice looking to get yourself started on your own "running journey" or a seasoned athlete wanting to use this as a part of your training schedule, you’re welcome to come along and join us.|

Camden Council allows barbecues in Waterlow Park but there are clear guidelines about using them. The main points to remember are

1954: The London Irish Centre is founded by a group from the Irish Priests Committee, who were worried about ill-prepared emigrants arriving in post-World War II London
1955: No. 50 Camden Square, chosen for its proximity to Euston where the train from Holyhead arrived, is purchased for £3,887.1os. No. 51 is bought soon after for £2,700
1955: Fr Tom McNamara (Fr Mac) becomes the first director of the centre. Managed by clergy and supported by volunteers, the centre’s focus was on accommodation and employment for new emigrants
1955: The centre is formally opened by Bishops, and named Blessed Oliver Plunkett House, after the Irish scholar, patriot and martyr. When it opened it housed 10 boys and stated its aim as “to promote the social, recreational and spiritual welfare of Irish people in London”
1956: The London Irish Centre becomes a registered charity
